StMary’s College
EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
Last Friday, May 12, seven students travelled to an awards ceremony in the European Parliament Offices in Dublin. St Mary’s College is one of 20 schools who have been awarded the title of a European Ambassador School. This Programme aims to raise awareness on European Parliamentary democracy and European citizenship values. The students who travelled were named as Junior Ambassadors for their enthusiasm and dedication to European events throughout this school year.
Well Done to Elizabeth Byrne, who made a presentation on behalf of the class and spoke about our school and all that they have learned and participated in this year in European Studies class. Congratulations to the whole class on this outstanding achievement.
POSITIVE DISCIPLINE
As part of our Positive Discipline system our junior classes have been enjoying class trips with their tutors and year heads over the past two weeks.
Our Form 1 classes experienced their first trip as a year group when they spent a fun day at Tayto Park on Monday, May 8, They enjoyed hair raising rides on the many new attractions there including the Cu Chulain Coaster – Europe’s highest wooden roller coaster and also toured the Tayto factory and Zoo and scaled the heights on the abseiling wall. The Form 3 class also travelled to Tayto Park on May 16, enjoying their last trip in their present class groups.
Students from Form 2 travelled to the Funtasia Park in Co. louth for an action packed day on May 17. Many thanks to all the year heads and tutors for organising and accompanying their students on these very enjoyable trips.
