ST ANNE’S PARISH
Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmation certificates or application forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificates and application forms can be processed.
Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confessions are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannesparishshankill.com and then clicking onto video link.
St Patrick’s Chapel, Loughlinstown: The celebration of the Sunday 9 a.m. Mass has now ceased in the chapel and will not resume till essential maintenance has been completed.
Baptism Times: Baptisms take place in St Anne’s Church at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month and at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. A month’s notice is required. Please contact the St Anne’s parish office located in St Anne’s Resource Centre to make your arrangements. Please note that when visiting the parish office to arrange a baptism, the child’s birth certificate should be brought as it necessary to photocopy it for the parish records but it will be returned immediately.
Pre-Baptism Meetings: Pre-Baptism Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month for parents presenting their children for baptism the following month.
Room Hire – St Anne’s Resource Centre: At present we have availability in the centre for room hire. If you are interested in running your class or course please contact Melissa Tobin at 01 2822777 for further information. Facilities include Free car park, tea or coffee, Use of whiteboard and projector, Flipchart Stands, three rooms available with capacity for 80 people, 25 people, or 15 people.
Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament: The UAC hold Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 22nd of each month. The May Holy Hour took place last Monday night. This is a worldwide initiative by the Pallottine Family to pray for vocations to the Priesthood and the Religious Life. Children/Youth: Altar Servers – Training sessions for children in second to sixth classes will take place tomorrow (Thursday) from 2.40 p.m. to 3.20 p.m. Commissioning will take place on Sunday, June 4, at the 6 p.m. Mass. Registration forms available from Elaine in the parish office or on the first day of training in the church.
Secret Choir – Sing at the Sunday evening Mass once a month. More voices and musicians are needed to join for the 6 p.m. Mass on Pentecost Sunday, June 4, If you are interested, rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings in the church.
First Holy Communion: Congratulations to the students of St Anne’s National School, who received their First Holy Communion last Sunday. More students from St Anne’s School will receive their First Holy Communion this Sunday. May God’s blessing be upon you all, today and always.
Farewell to Fr Eamonn Monson: Fr Eamonn will be celebrating his final Mass in St Anne’s Parish this Sunday at midday. Exam Mass on Saturday, June 3,: We invite exam students to write their names in the book at the back of the church. If any student who is sitting exams this year, would like to read or present the gifts at this Mass, please contact the parish office.
Feast of Corpus Christi – Sunday, June 18,: We invite all children who received their First Holy Communion this year to attend 10.30 a.m. Family Mass on the feast of Corpus Christi, wearing their First Holy Communion clothes. We also invite all the children and their families to attend St Anne’s Resource Centre after Mass for tea or coffee.
Sound Engineer: We are looking for volunteers with an interest in sound engineering and who are willing to be trained in the use of our sound system in the church. The role will involve the setting up of and tidying away the sound system before and after Masses that require extra sound for choirs.
DVD Course: Today (Wednesday) the six-week DVD course entitled ‘Catholicism, the Pivotal Players’ which is based on inspiring individuals within Catholicism continues in St Anne’s Resource Centre immediately after 10 a.m. Mass. This course will include the inspiring lives of: St Francis of Assisi, GK Chesterton, St Catherine of Sienna, Michelangelo, Bl. John Henry Newman, and St Thomas Aquinas.

Appeal For Adorers. Did you know that our Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel is open Monday to Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and also from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. At present, we are appealing for people to ‘watch one hour’ with the Lord. There will be a book in the Chapel for you to sign in. If there is no one present when you have to leave the Chapel, we ask that you close over the tabernacle doors.
Altar Society: The Altar Society comprises of parishioners who prepare and arrange floral displays for the church each week, working either singly or in pairs. The use of fresh flowers enhances the church space especially the sanctuary, and these floral displays also help to reflect the changing Seasons of both the calendar year and the church’s year. If you are interested in joining the Altar Society please call into the parish office.
Suggestion Box: There is now a Suggestion Box in the church. We welcome any suggestions/ comments/ideas you may have with regard to improving our Parish Community. These suggestions will be brought to the Pastoral Council Meetings which are held monthly.
Men’s coffee morning: The Men’s coffee morning takes place every Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Please join us if you are free.

BOOK SALE
The June First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Association and Meals on Wheels, will take place on Saturday, June 3, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Shankill Old Folks Association Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, so make a point of calling into the book sale that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunity to pick up some excellent reading material for the summer. Donations of books, other than school/text books, accepted on the day.

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays. The library is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The library will be open this Friday but closed on Saturday. HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Members of the Rathmichael Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack, and surrounding area, are invited to avail of the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council 2017 ‘ Spring into Heritage’ programme of free tours now taking place which run till Sunday, June 18, Free guided public tours take place at Marlay House, Cabinteely House, The Oratory Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey Castle, James Joyce Tower and Museum, Seapoint Martello Tower, and the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Tour.
The brochure of events contains the times and days of the week that tours take place at these locations. Copies are available from the Dun Laoghaire Tourist Information Centre, dlr branch libraries, or can be downloaded from events.dlrcoco.ie.
The next major event for members and the public is the Society’s week long annual summer School of Evening Lectures in August which will take place in Rathmichael School, Shankill. Full programme details will be announced shortly.
ICA GUILD
The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. SHANKILL GAA CLUB
Last Thursday night the club development lotto draw took place in Brady’s Pub Tickets for the weekly draw are €2 each or three for €5.
Our Academy is in Shanganagh Castle at 10 a.m. every Saturday. The cost is €2 per child, there is no annual subscription and all equipment is provided free. So why not come along any Saturday morning and give the Academy a try.

Last Saturday week under-seven girls and boys’ teams enjoyed a blitz with Bray Emmets, our under-10 boys’ football team were away to Stars of Erin and the under-11 girls’ football team travelled to Ballyboden St Enda’s. On Sunday week our under-nine girls played St Mark’s away.
