GLENEALY CARD DRIVE

Whist partner card drive will be in Glenealy Village Hall this Thursday, May 25, and 45 card drive card drive will be the following Thursday, June 1, time is 8.30 p.m. New players always welcome.

COMMUNITY GAMES

There was recitation music song and dance in Glenealy Hall last Sunday as Ashford-Glenealy hosted the Community Games County Talent Finals for the first time.

An enormous amount of work by the area committee and county sincere thank you to all who made the day a rounding success a special thank you to the ladies who provided the food at the break.

Our County sponsor Pat Casey wife Sonia along with Pat Collier representi­ng the family of the late Mark Collier, who in 2014 donated the Mark Collier Perpetual Trophy to Wicklow County Board for the Overall Winning Area in Talent along with a large enthusiast­ic audience enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of talent.

We were kept in suspense as to who was the overall area winner Of the Mark Collier Perpetual Trophy and when it was announced that Ashford-Glenealy had won the hall erupted into applause as Pat Collier presented the trophy it was fitting end to what was a wonderful day for the children of our area and county.

What talented children we have in our area we were represente­d by Jessica Byrne, Alannan Hayes, Sorcha O’Neill in Solo Singing.

Medal Winners – Solo Recitation: under-12 Jonnie Harkin (Silver), under-16 Seán Treacy (Gold). Solo Music: John McElhinney (Gold), under-12 Cody Grove (Gold), Lorcan Byrne (Silver). under-16 Group Music: Lorcan Byrne, Grace Henkil, Fiachra Little, Kelly O’Neill, Mary and Ronan McElhinney Gold. Under-12 Solo Singing: Tara Barrett, Tom Byrne, Haley Connolly Driver, Kayleigh Doyle, Sorcha O’Neill Silver. Bobby Fanning, Shane O’Brien, Alex Dowd.

The Gold medal winners will now go forward to represent Wicklow at the national final in Abbotstown in August good luck to you all you done your area proud.

KIDS ART CLASSES

Kids art classes are back on Saturdays mornings at 11 a.m. in Glenealy club house. For more informatio­n contact Carol Davis at 083 3724331.

HEALTH AND FITNESS

ECCE PLACES

GYMBOREE

IRISH DANCING

Irish dancing classes with Brenda McLoughlin continue in Glenealy Village Hall on Thursday evenings from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. New students very welcome to join.

SATURDAYS PLAYGROUP

The Saturdays playgroup meet in Glenealy Village Hall every Saturday morning from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Fun play for pre school children and up. Cost €3 per family.

ASTRO TURF
