Delight for Bray Musical Society at choral festival

-

MEMBERS of Bray Musical Society came away from New Ross with two certificates last Sunday.

This was the choral festival of the Association of Irish Musical Societies.

Bray won second place in the Disney category, and they also came second in the Cameo section.

For the Disney performance, the choir sang their version of ‘Reflection’ from the film Mulan. In the Cameo, they performed the song and dance ‘Bless the Lord’ from their recent production of Godspell.

Just one point separated them from winners, Nenagh Choral Society, who performed a spellbinding version of ‘Cell Block Tango’ from the musical Chicago.

The singers also performed ‘Penny Lane’ and ‘From a Distance’ in the ‘Light Touch’ competition.

They were led by musical director Elizabeth Gregan, while pianist Justin McCann accompanied the group.

Their performances took place in St Michael’s Theatre, New Ross, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.

The AIMS Choral Festival takes place in New Ross every May. The competitions took place over two days, with junior day on Saturday and adults on Sunday.
