Temporary closure for works at Little Tern Park
THE new playground in Kilcoole will remain closed to the public until final works to be completed.
The works will include laying of grass, and the installation of bins. The re-opening date will be assessed as the week progresses, depending on the weather and completion of the remaining groundworks.
Some young people have been seen in the playground area despite the temporary closure. The committee is urging the public to ensure that they stay out until it re-opens so that it can be enjoyed then for the remainder of the summer once works are complete.
The park opened recent after an investment of €200,000 by the council, fundraising and work by a dedicated committee of local people, a donation of land by the Doyle family.
The new playground contains nine specialised areas including trim trail activity circuit, junior play area and an inclusive play area, all spread over a large site at Lott Lane, Kilcoole. There is a special emphasis on equipment that can be used by children with restricted mobility.
Speaking at the opening, Cllr Whitmore paid tribute to the Council for providing this wonderful facility for the many children in the ever-increasing population of Kilcoole.
