Over 100 pairs of runners stolen

-

THOUSANDS of Euros worth of sport shoes were taken from a van in Greystones in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.

The incident happened in the Eden Wood area, gardai said.

The shoes were running spikes, which retail at around €75 per pair. Over 100 pairs were taken from the vehicle.

They were stock associated with the Amphibian King store in Bray. Owner Damian McKeever said that they were at an event in Santry, at which they were selling the items.

Damian is urging anyone who may come across someone trying to sell these to contact the gardai in Greystones.

He said that he was up early on Wednesday to swim at Shoreline. ‘I went out to the van at 5 a.m. and realised it had been broken into.’

He said that some of the shoes had been strewn around the estate. He reckoned out of 120 pairs, they dropped around ten pairs as they made off.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area or is offered a pair of running spikes at a suspiciously low price can contact Greystones Garda Station on (01) 6665800.
