From Broadway stage to Greystones

-

THE audience got a real treat recently at St Patrick’s National School in Greystones as Greystones Orchestra for their summer concert, ‘Music from the Musicals’.

The orchestra was joined by guest players from the Artane senior band to add an extra element to the series of classic numbers from musical theatre.

They chose arrangements from beloved mu- sicals such as West Side Story, Oklahoma, South Pacific, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and many more.

The concert was enjoyed by people of all ages, and the musicians played their hearts out on the night.

The dedicated musicians rehearse on Monday evenings at St Patrick’s school. Greystones Or- chestra was established in 1989 by a small group of musicians whose aim was to ‘stimulate interest in music and encourage musicians of all standards’.

Hazel Fortune is the leader of the Greystones Orchestra. She has been a member of the Greystones Orchestra since its foundation in 1989.

The guests from Artane were made to feel very welcome and the groups enjoyed playing together.
