PARNELL ATHLETIC CLUB

Well done to all our athletes that took part in the Wicklow Championship recently. There was some great performances from our Juvenile athletes from aged 8 to 19 despite all the rain!

Well done to Ella Breen who won bronze in the U8 awards and to Maria Zabharinka who took gold in the U11 awards and also bronze in the 500m; Steven O’Toole U13 took silver in the Javelin, bronze in the 100m ans silver in the 600m. Ellen Keany U15–Gold in 800m; Alice Kerwin U13 Silver in Javelin; Ella Sinnott & Mellisa Murphy U14 won Gold and Silver; Dylan Tarmey U17 and Derick Crammond U19 won gold in 800m. There were wonderful performances from Ava, Ellen, Tara, Hannah, Lucy, Caoimhe, Ethen, Edward, Joel, Ryan and Odhran.

PURE MILE WALK

Seán Dunne will lead a walk of the Ballinabarney – Ballintombay – Ballyteige Pure Mile on Thursday, June 8, at 7.30 p.m. The assembly point is Snell’s Crossroads. Seán will highlight a few points of interest along the Pure Mile, such as the ballaun stone, events over past year’s and people of interest. Come along and learn more about your local area.

This is our second Pure Mile event of the summer. Our first event took place on May 18. It was a dusk chorus walk, led by local ornithologist Oran O’Sullivan and attracted 28 participants.

ST COLMAN’S

The St Colman’s Residential Care Centre Whitsun Event takes place on Whit Sunday starting at 2 p.m. There will be all the usual attractions, barbecue, wheel of fortune, plants, plus a Monster Raffle in aid of Patients Benefit Fund – tickets on sale now. We look forward to another great day.

BLOOD CLINIC

The Irish Blood Transusion Service will hold a mobile clinic in the RDA Hall on Thursday, June 1, from 4.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. All donors welcome, new and old.

BINGO

Bingo continues every Friday night in the RD.A. Hall at 8.30 p.m. Why not come along and be one of the many who win prizes each week.

KNOCK

5K FUN RUN/WALK

A 5k Fun run/walk in aid of Temple Street Hospital will take place on Sunday, June 18. Registration is from 9 a.m. in the Assembly Hall Wicklow Town (beside the Garda Station). Cost of entry on the day is €10 per adult and €5 for a child and then £20 for a family of four and the run will start at 10.30 a.m. There will be medals for all kids who take part and there will also be refreshements back in the Assembly Hall after the run.
