MASS OF THE ANGELS

The vigil Mass at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, in Church of the Sacred Heart, Aughrim is a ‘Mass of the Angels’. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for all the families in the locality who have lost a baby due to miscarriag­e, a baby around the time of birth or a child who died young. Choir will be by Avondale Voices.

FISHING COMPETITIO­N

There will be a fishing competitio­n at the NDAF ‘Fishing for All’ Angling Facility, Rednagh Road, Aughrim on Bank Holiday Monday, June 5, from midday to 3 p.m. Prizes will include plaques and fishing vouchers for heaviest senior catch of the day and junior catch of the day. SUMMER CAMP

An exciting summer camp takes place at Aughrim Community Hall from July 10 to July 14. Age group: 4-12, Time: 9.30 a.m. to midday (Art Camp) midday to 1 p.m. (Activity Camp). Art in the morning (Candles with Photo/ Sculpture/T-shirts Design/Art and Science Projects and lots more, with art competitio­n on the last day). Activity camp in the afternoon (Introducti­on to Tae-Kwon-Do, circuit training, exercise to music and lots more). Presentati­on of medals and certs on the last day.

BOWLING FACILITY

Aughrim Bowling Facility is now open to all players, groups and anyone interested in taking up the game. Tuition can be given to the inexperien­ced. Please call in to the bowling green on Rednagh Road on Tuesday or Thursday evenings for more informatio­n.

BUSY FINGERS

Busy Fingers Pre-school and Toddler Group are now taking enrolments for September, catering for children from two to six years of age. Free places are available under the ECCE scheme. For enrolments or any further informatio­n please ring 0402 36407 or 087 3949867.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

There will be no coffee morning next week as Monday is a Bank Holiday. There will be a Committee Meeting on Thursday, June 1, in Lawless’ Hotel at 10.30 a.m. Our next Group Meeting will be on Tuesday, June 6, at 10.30 a.m. in the Sports Complex. This will be the last meeting before the summer break.

MARKET

Please join us at the Aughrim Town and Country Market, Rednagh Road, every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A big welcome to the new stallholde­rs who have recently joined us adding to the variety of fresh produce on offer including fresh chemical free fruit and vegetables, fresh local meat and farm fresh eggs. You will find home baked bread and cakes, jams and chutneys and freshly cooked fritattas and lots more. There is a great selection of aran knits and handcrafts on offer also.
