Car windows smashed in Newtownmou­ntkennedy

A NUMBER of cars had windows smashed and wing mirrors broken in a spate of vandalism in the early hours of Sunday morning, June 4, in the Newtownmou­ntkennedy area.

Gardai in Greystones are appealing for anyone who witnessed the vandalism which happened at around 1pm when cars parked along the Church Road area and near the Post Office were targeted.

One vehicle had its rear window smashed while a truck had its front windscreen smashed. A number of car owners reported the wing mirrors were broken off their vehicles in the same location.

The amount of damaged caused to the vehicles is estimated to be several thousands of euro.

‘ The cars were parked along the roadside and although we have a suspect in mind, we are appealing for witnesses to the vandalism,’ said Superinten­dent Pat Walsh.

In a nearby location, flower pots and a statue outside a house were also damaged.
