Volunteering leads to pizza party at Loreto

-

ONE GOOD deed deserves another as students at Loreto Secondary School in Bray discovered recently when their fundraising efforts resulted in them enjoying their very own a pizza party.

Transition Year students at the school volunteered for the Special Olympics national collection day on May 5, which is the group’s biggest annual fundraiser.

They joined fellow volunteers along Bray Main Street and surrounding ar- eas, helping to raise a fantastic total of €2907.11 for Special Olympics Ireland. This was a great result from Bray and a huge increase from previous years.

Every school that contributed towards the Special Olympics collection day by volunteering or holding a fundraiser were entered into a draw to win a ‘Pizza Party’ from Apache Pizza and the lucky ladies at Loreto were the winners in Special Olympics Eastern Region, which stretches from Balbrig- gan in north Dublin down to Arklow and includes Kildare commuter towns like Leixlip, Celbridge and Maynooth.

Any school that would like to get involved in the 2018 collection day should contact karen.treacy@specialolympics.ie.
