Nominations announced for Earls awards

THE cream of Wicklow soccer’s crop will be celebrated at the annual Tommy Earls Awards night at the Parkview Hotel, Newtownmountkennedy, on Friday, June 16, from 8.15pm.

10 clubs are represented among the award nominees for the 2017 bash with 17 names in the running for the prestigous awards.

Rathnew AFC’s Leighton Glynn, Wicklow Town’s Garreth Murphy and Newtown United’s Ryan Cahill are the three names in the hat for the Andy McEvoy Premier Division award with all three playing key roles in their club’s seasons.

The full list is as follows: Andy McEvoy Premier Division - Gareth Murphy, Wicklow Town; Ryan Cahill, Newtown Utd; Leighton Glynn, Rathnew AFC.

Pat O’Toole Division 2 - Tom Quinn, Rathnew AFC; James Behan, Carnew AFC; Fiachra Ryan, Avonmore

Division 3 - John Sayer, Rathnew AFC; Sean Beale, Ashford Rovers; Mick Murphy, Dearg Celtic

John Tobin Youth League - Shaun Paul Dunne, Rathnew AFC; Clive Keenan, Arklow Town; Jack Geraghty, Wicklow Town.

Young Player of The Year - Ross Davis, Newtown Utd; Josh O’Callaghan, Glencormac; Jack Healy, Rathnew AFC; Jack Geraghty, Wicklow Town.

Overall Player of The Year - Jason Taylor, Ashford Rovers; Mickey Mernagh, Rathnew AFC; Ryan Cahill, Newtown Utd; Leighton Glynn, Rathnew AFC.
