Highest 2016 CAP payment in the county was €220,000
AN ARKLOW farmer received the top CAP (Common Agriculture Policy) payment in the county last year according to the latest figures.
Cyril Goode of Arklow received €220,110.08 in CAP payments according to the latest figures published by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
Goode has produced some of the best pedigree Simmental and Charolais cattle in Ireland over the years and is thought to be Ireland’s largest cattle suckler farmer.
The department is obliged, by EU regulations, to publish the list of all beneficiaries of CAP funding – once they receive more than €1,250 – by the end of May each year.
A total of 133,182 beneficiaries received CAP payments in the Republic of Ireland in 2016; in excess of €1.6 billion was dished out to these beneficiaries in CAP payments last year.
Across County Wicklow 2,154 farmers received payments ranging from €220,110.08 to €49.40.
