Daily Prayer and Open Church, midday and 5 p.m. each day: Powerscour­t Church has re-opened for daily prayer. This year there will be two times of prayer, midday and 5 p.m. with the church being open between those times for quiet space and personal prayer.

Mothers’ Union Notes: Members, who may be planning to visit London this August will be interested to learn that it is planned to hold two open days in Mary Sumner House (MU Headquarte­rs) on the second and third of that month. Time: 11.30 a.m. till 4 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Mary summer house is located at 24 Tufton Street, Westminste­r.

The programme for the days will include worship, talks given by the Worldwide president Lynne Tembey and Chief Executive Bev Jullien. An opportunit­y to see examples of different MU Projects throughout the world and a chance to see Mary Sumner House and visit the Mothers’ Union Chapel, also periods for quiet reflection. The cost for the day is £10 which includes a packed lunch and refreshmen­ts.

The Rosary: The Rosary is recited each morning (before Mass and Prayer Services) at 10 a.m.

Baptisms: Baptisms are now held on the second Saturday of the month in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, for parishione­rs only. Please arrange with parish office. Parishione­rs are asked to please give two weeks notice if you wish to book a baptism.

HISTORY SOCIETY

The Enniskerry History Society is on summer Recess till meetings resume in the autumn. In the meantime members are invited to Saturdays 2.30 p.m. lecture by Ms Rachel Abraham on ‘Edward Roe: A Westmeath Old Contempibl­e’ to the Western Front Associatio­n (Dublin Branch) in the lecture theatre of the Museum of Decorative Arts and History Lecture Theatre, Collins Barracks, Dublin seven. All welcome – €3 donation appreciate­d.

WALKING ASSOCIATIO­N

The Enniskerry Walking Associatio­n was formed in 2004 to protect traditiona­l walking routes in the area and to promote walking for recreation, for health, as a safe alternativ­e to car use, and to help us all to learn more about our locality.

Our popular Tuesday evening walks usually meet at the Spar in Enniskerry at 7 p.m. All who are interested, adults or children, are most welcome. Walks vary in length but most last between one-and-a half and two-and-ahalf hours; some (but not all) involve a bit of climbing.

Please wear appropriat­e warm and rain-proof clothing, and proper walking boots for the occasional muddy or rocky track. In the interests of walker’s comfort and safety participan­ts are asked to respect the directions of the walk leader and stay between the leader and the anchor person.

Tuesday Evening Walks in June are – Tuesday, June 20 – Rockbrook, Massy’s Wood and Hellfire Club. 2-3 hours Meet Outside Spar at 7 p.m., Cruagh Cemetery car park at 7.30 p.m.; Tuesday, June 23 – Kippure from Sally Gap road. Bring a Mid-summer Nights Snack. 2.5hrs Meet Outside Spar at 7 p.m., Gate to Kippure at 7.30 p.m. Feel free just to turn up (sharp.) on any of the Tuesday walks.
