Leinster Motor Club Rally on this weekend

VINTAGE and classic car enthusiasts will enjoy cruising through the Garden County on Sunday, June 25 as the 63rd annual Leinster Motor Club Rally takes place.

This one day event will set off from The Goat, Taney Road, Dublin 14 and cover a 60-mile route taking in Delgany, Newcastle, Rathnew, Glenealy and Rathdrum.

Competitors will depart at 11 a.m. and will enjoy a stop in the grounds of Avondale House where they are welcome to bring a picnic.

The event will finish at the Glenview Hotel by 3 p.m. and the prizegiving ceremony will take place at 5.30 p.m.

Competitors are encouraged, if possible to take out their prewar cars and there will be prizes for best period costume.

While the emphasis is on an enjoyable road run, there is a competitive element to the event and the overall winner will receive the Dudley Colley Memorial Trophy.

An array of other perpetual trophies are also up for grabs in a number of categories including Best Rolls Royce/Bentley and Best pre-1945.
