Gospel choir at St Peter’s church

-

BRAY Gospel Choir celebrated the summer last weekend, with their concert at St Peter’s Church.

The choir members and their musical director worked hard to prepare an exciting repertoire of songs, including material by Radiohead, Hozier, Jackson Five and David Bowie.

The also delivered some classic gospel material for their delighted audience.

There was a real summer flavour to the programme, some new Motwon, soul and summer sizzle introduced to the setlist.

Adults and children alike enjoyed the evening performance at the church.

Bray Gospel Choir is a non-denominational group of singers with a passion for gospel and soul music. The group was created in January 2009 by four friends, with various musical backgrounds.

Over the past eight years, highlights have included working with Mary Coughlan on a charity gig for Umoza, joining her on ‘ The Madgalene Laundries’, as well as performing in Bray Summerfest, and singing with Eurovision legends Niamh Kavanagh and Johnny Logan to support the ‘Lean on Me’ campaign on Grafton Street. They sing at private functions such as weddings, and have a busy schedule of concerts throughout the year.

The choir has a real social aspect, with trips away, evenings out and a shared love of music.

They hold auditions each year. To stay informed, follow the choir on social media.
