Bloom gold medalist gives free garden design advice
BLOOM winner Kevin Dennis was at Powerscourt Garden Pavilion last Saturday to give gardening tips to a fascinated audience.
Kevin Dennis was a gold medal winner at this year’s Bloom Festival for the ‘Best Large Garden’. He was also the overall winner of the 2014 festival with his ‘City Life Garden’.
The horticulture champion shared the best advice in garden design last weekend in Enniskerry, free of charge to those who attended.
The audience learned about the main principles of garden design such as balance, scale and harmony, and how to apply them to their own gardens.
Kevin gave them recommendations for different garden layouts, plant types and colour and texture combinations. After a one-hour talk, there was a discussion and the opportunity to get some gardening advice.
People brought along photos of their gardens to get the most out of Kevin’s invaluable advice.
There were gardening gurus, curious novices and everyone in-between at the event.
Kevin is a garden designer, horticulturist and founder of Citscape Gardener. His passion is taking urban areas and transforming them into places of beauty and calm.
He feels that even the tiniest space, whether a balcony or a back yard can become a garden, and that city gardens are just as important as public spaces and key spaces for today’s outdoor living habits.
