ESTATES TAKEN IN CHARGE

-

A NUMBER of estates are to be taken in charge by Wicklow County Council.

At last week’s monthly meeting the members agreed to take the following estates in charge: Drumdarragh, Drumdangan, Gleanealy; Herbert Rise, Bray; Lyndhurst, Bray; Racefield, Newcastle; Saran Wood, Bray; The Birches, Ballinaclash; The Field, Barndarrig; Woodleigh Park Extension, Blessington; and Yachtsmans Point, Wicklow.

Cllr Joe Behan raised concerns about Lyndhurst saying that the estate was only recently finished.

He said: ‘I presume the developer would have paid for the road surface to be done but the road at the entrance to the estate is in extremely bad condition. I’m not saying it’s all caused by heavy machinery but it must have contributed.’

Director of services Des O’Brien said there was no special levy imposed on the developer for roads outside the estate only the normal levy for infrastructure works.

However, he said that the council may be able to look at road improvements there as part of the roadworks programme.
