St Boden’s will not take part in this year’s IFC campaign
DAYS out from the start of the Darcy Sand Intermediate Foootball Championship and it has been revealed that the group team St Bodens will not be competing in the competition due to not affiliating with the County Board.
The St Bodens team, a combination of Kilbride and Lacken, were due to play Rathnew in their opening championship game later this week but that fixture has now been cancelled with all teams being awarded two points due to the development.
Mick Hagan of the CCC said that he was “disappointed” at the situation but that the championship would have to go ahead without them regardless.
Th opening game of the IHC will be the meeting of last year’s beaten finalists Ballinacor and Dunlavin in Joule Park, Aughrim at pm on Thursday night. This will be followed by what promises to be a belter of game when the Billies take on a flying Kilmac side in Pearse’s Park on Friday night at 8pm.
The Boom Platform Hire Junior A Football Championship gets up and runnig on Saturday when Valleymount do battle with Barndarrig at 5pm in Roundwood and Kilcoole take on Laragh at Ashford at 6pm. It’s an evening of hurling in Joule Park, Aughrim, when the IHC gets going with the meeting of St Pat’s and Glenealy while Glenaly and Avondale will do battle in the Senior championship.
On to Sunday then and it’s a double header in the SHC when Éire Óg take on St Pat’s ahead of the crunch tie of Carnew Emmets and reigning champions Bray Emmets at 1.45pm.
Carnew will look to continue their winning ways following their victory over Avondale while Bray will be looking to lay down a marker and, depending on how things went in Greystones on Tuesday night, will be either seeking two wins on the trot or looking to bounce back from an unexpected defeat to Éire Óg.
