WICKLOW ROVERS

The senior ladies suffered their first defeat of the season when they went down 5-3 away to C.M.H. FC in Dundrum.

The girls never really got going in this game and never reached the high standards they have set themselves.

They fell behind early on but hit back within a minute when Niamh O’Brien scored a cracker. Two goals in as many minutes just before the break put the home side in the driving seat.

The girls pulled one back in the first minute of the second half through Hannah Cox but they then conceded a soft goal to fall 4-2 behind.

They reduced the deficit again when Laura O’Brien blasted home to make it 4-3 but any hope of completing the comeback was dashed when the home side scored a fifth to run out 5-3 winners.

On the night Louise Johnson and Kellie Ryder were the stand out players for Rovers.

The under-17s went down 4-2 to Firhouse Carmel, the lads were under strength but gave a good account of themselves none the less. Luca Rampersaud hit his 15th goal of the season with Sean Leonard nabbing his first.

It is open to girls and boys from five years upwards. Please note that all children will play on finals day, and you never know the ever-popular “Tiny Tots” game may make a comeback.

On the opening couple of days of the MWC over 150 goals were scored as over 100 boys and girls showed off their skills to the large crowds present.

You can follow all the fixtures, results, teams etc on our Facebook page.

All our players are currently out and about with sponsor cards (where players can purchase club gear depending on how much money they collect).
