Corpus Christi

-

The children of Kilmacanogue NS sixth and second classes attended the Corpus Christi Mass in St Mochonóg’s as a follow up to their recent Confirmation and First Holy Communion sacraments. Members of the second class group opened the Mass with a procession up to the altar which they then prepared for the Mass.

A patchwork dove made by sixth class was brought up by Caitlyn and Maria and presented a Eucharistic candle as symbols of the children’s’ reflections on their sacraments. Sixth class also did the readings and Prayers of the Faithful were read beautifully by members of second class.

Offertory gifts were brought up by parents from second class and the two classes sang together throughout this celebration. One of the girls from sixth class even read out a Communion Re- flection, before the two classes gathered on the Altar for their group photo. Father David then led the children in a ceremonial procession from the Altar.

This celebration Mass combining the First Holy Communion and the Confirmation groups is quickly becoming a beautiful tradition in our parish. Special thanks are due to Máiréad Murphy, who has worked with the two classes throughout the year and Breda Connolly, who organised the refreshments in the Parish Hall afterwards. Most of all though, a big thank you must go to the parents and the children who came along in their outfits from their special day.
