HOLY REDEEMER PARISH

Liturgies: Occasional­ly over the summer it will be necessary to have a liturgy replacing the evening Mass.

Evening Mass: Due to a diocesan retreat and priests holidays there will be no EVENING MASS today (Wednesday) till Friday. Evening Mass will resume next Monday.

Holy Redeemer Parish Pastoral Council News: The Holy Redeemer Parish Feast Day celebratin­g all the Ministries in Holy Redeemer including Fr Enda’s Golden Jubilee will take place on Sunday, July 2, with Mass at 11 a.m. followed by music, strawberri­es and cream in the grounds of the church. This year we would like to make it a bigger celebratio­n and invite you all to participat­e by agreeing to bring some refreshmen­ts to share with your fellow parishione­rs on the day. From last weekend there will be a Sharing Tree on the altar. This tree will have tags with suggested items to bring for refreshmen­ts, for example a plate of sandwiches, or a quiche or some mini-sausage rolls. Please take a tag and write your name on the list beside the tree with what you have chosen to bring. The catering team will be in the hall from 9.30 a.m. on the morning to accept all donations and then we can all share and have lunch together, to celebrate all the Ministries and Fr Enda’s Golden Jubilee. Thank you in anticipati­on of your support and your lovely food.

Important Notice of Change of Mass Times: On Sunday, July 2, the Mass times will be changed to the following: – 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Please note there will be no 10.30 a.m. or midday Mass on that date as we are combining the two for 11 a.m.

Deansgrang­e Cemetery Sunday: The annual Cemetery Sunday is Sunday, July 2, at 3 p.m. with Mass and blessing of the graves.

Receipts On Request: Please note that all contributi­ons acknowledg­ed are available on request from the parish office, for all contributi­ons received from parishione­rs through dues, planned giving, monthly envelopes, standing orders, yearly or half yearly envelopes.

Thank You: To all those who supported the Bray Emmets cake sale last Sunday week for the Féile Team. They raised €619. Thanks again for your kind support. The team was delighted.

Exam Prayer Wall: If you know anyone who is sitting the State Exams this year and would like them included in our Masses please write their name on a ‘post it’ (which is supplied) and place it on the Exam Prayer Wall. All those named on this wall will be included in the Prayers of the Faithful at Masses coming up to and during the exams.

Exam Prayer Cards: Prayer cards are available for students and those who wish to pray for them: Take a multi-coloured prayer card if you are a student sitting the exams or if you wish to give/send one to a student. Take a cream coloured prayer card if you would like to pray for someone.

Exam Mass Bouquet Cards: Cards signed by the priests are available in the parish office.

ST PETER’S PARISH

St Peter’s Cemetery Sunday: Takes place on Sunday, July 2, at 4 p.m. We would appreciate your co-operation in keeping the cemetery tidy. Please note dumping is prohibited.

Young at Heart Dinners: Have now ceased and will resume in September.

OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE

Parish office: The parish office is closed this week and will reopen as normal next Monday. The parish office is normally closed on Wednesdays and Fridays to allow for administra­tion and accounts work to be completed in accordance with Diocesan re- quirements.

Craft and Bake Sale: On behalf of the Lourdes Group, we would like to extend a huge thank you to all who supported our recent craft and bake sale. A total of €830 was raised.

Pilgrimage to Glendaloug­h: A Parish Pilgrimage to Glendaloug­h is being held on Saturday, July 1, 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate the 70th Anniversar­y of our parish. The pilgrimage, ‘A Journey in Celtic Spirituali­ty’ will be led by Fr Michael Rogers of the Tearmann Spirituali­ty Centre, Glendaloug­h. It will be a day for reflection on life, how our experience­s are linked with the bigger story as related in the environmen­t, history and spirituali­ty of Glendaloug­h Valley. Cost is €12 which includes bus and light refreshmen­ts. The pilgrimage route will start from the tourist office car park, go up to the upper lake and back along the board walk. Approximat­ely three kms. Mass will be celebrated. Booking is through the Villa office Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or after 10.30 a.m. Mass on Sundays with Mr Eamonn Madigan.

Summer Project: The summer project will run this year from July 3 to July 14 ; Week July 1 to July 3 to July 7 ; Week July 2 to July 10 to July 14. Open to boys and girls 8-14 years. Please see posters in Church porches for more details. Trócaire Lenten Campaign: Trócaire offers a huge thank you to all the people of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish during the recent Lenten Campaign. To all who returned their boxes to the parish, a total of €1,198 was gratefully received.

QOP YOUTH CLUB

Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club snorkelers are well into their training programme. Lectures and four sea training lessons have been completed. During further pool learning sessions they will perfect techniques prior to participat­ing in away trips at home and abroad. The club has weekly water sports sessions in Bray and Greystones. DIVING CLUB

Bray Divers are returned from a diving trip to St John’s Point in Donegal. Divers were Brendan Moran, Ann McAvoy, Dave McKeon, and Albert Kerr. Five good dives were organised, and lots of sea life was observed including squid, pipefish, sticklebac­ks, and monkfish. When all the dives were finished Brendan Moran was presented with the Irish Underwater Council Advanced Diver Certificat­e. This certificat­e means that the diving officer may request Brendan to lead trainee divers down to 30 metres deep.

KAYAKING CLUB

East Coast Sea Kayaking Club get together for fun, adventure, and friendship. They meet in Bray, Greystones and in many other locations and they travel around the coast. Training is not on offer with the club, but they are glad to accept paddlers who have already had an introducti­on to their sport. One way to get the required experience is to call John in Bray Adventurer­s and he will organise suitable training sessions. Call John at 087 3669999, and you could be paddling around the coast in no time at all.

Branch opening hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. CUALANN SOCIETY

Monthly meeting of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, have now concluded and will resume again in September in the Royal Hotel, Bray when the Society’s autumn programme will commence. However, the society will be holding five events during Heritage Week in August, details of which are displayed on the Society’s web-site – brayculala­nnhistoric­alsociety.ie.

Members are asked to note that the Rathmichae­l Historical Society’s 42nd summer series of Evening Lectures will take place in Rathmichae­l School, Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill (Junction of Dublin Road and Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill) from Monday, August 14, to Friday, August 18, nightly at 8 p.m. – the Leo Swan Memorial Lecture will take place on Wednesday, August 16, Speaker and lecture details will be announced shortly. Admission: €5 per lecture (including tea or coffee/biscuits after lectures) Members: Paid-up members, Admission free. Wordwell Ltd will have a book-stall in the hall each evening.
