TO boost wellbeing, I am delighted to share news of an event I am co-organising on June 21 called Rejuvenate Ireland, in Wexford – promoting wellbeing for all in partnership with the Wexford Chamber of Commerce, Wexford County Council and supported by Danone Nutricia and Wexford Chamber Skillnet.

Stress is the epidemic of the 21st century. Stress affects us all differently when it becomes too much. Some people get sick, some get anxious, some get exhausted and some get depressed. Some of us experience a combination.

After working with people that have been affected by varying degrees of stress for the last many years both internationally and in Ireland, I felt inspired to do an event that offers solutions and preventative measures.

Meditation, mindfulness and different wellbeing practices like yoga for mind, body and can help us overcome stress, improve performance and leadership as well as preparing us to be well and at our best physically, mentally and emotionally so we can handle life in the best way day-to-day. Making the best of things means handling the difficulties as well as you can and also involves seeing and making the best of opportunities that present. When we are worried, stressed, afraid or distracted, we often miss the solutions to problems and the opportunities for new avenues of growth.

The events are on June 21, the longest day of the year at the Ferrycarrig Hotel in Wexford. We have a great line up including former rugby international Gordon D’Arcy, Her Excellency Mrs Vijay Thakur Singh, the Indian Ambassador to Ireland, motivational speaker Steve Black whom the former All-Blacks coach said is the best motivator I’ve ever met and sports personalities, Tracy Piggott and Liam Griffin.

The group will share their experience and wisdom of how we can convert our challenges to strengths and make the most of ourselves so we can solve problems and enjoy sustained wellbeing, happiness and success.

If we want to be well and do well consistently, we must put wellbeing at the heart of what we do. We must meet our own needs and maintain our own balance. This isn’t always easy. Life if for living, learning and growing and as we take on new challenges we have to find new ways to achieve balance day to day.

What works for one person may not work for another. And moreover, what worked for you last year may not be what is relevant this year as life throws different curve balls and new opportunities to you. The more problems we have to solve the fitter our minds need to be and the more emotional balance we require.

As we grow and mature and at different times of the year even, our wellbeing needs change.

What is common is that we all have a body, a mind and a purpose. We have to be mentally and physically prepared to bring our best to each day. If you can come for the event, we’d love to see you. But the most important thing for you to take from reading this is to look after your own wellbeing needs day to day. Sometimes we need to give ourselves permission to put ourselves first so we can be at our best. When we are at our best, we serve our purpose and others in the best way.

If you want to come along, you can register through Róisín at the Wexford Chamber by calling 053 91 2226 or by registering at www. rejuvenateireland.com.
