Manicures and treats for carers at coffee morning

-

FAMILY Carers Ireland held a special event recently at Little Bray Family Resource & Development Centre, with help from O’Meara’s CarePlus pharmacy.

This was linked to the CarePlus pharmacy’s nationwide programme of events for Carers Week 2017.

The week was established to bring Carers together at events and acknowl- edge their hard work throughout the year.

CarePlus Pharmacy, sponsors of the Family Carers Ireland, Carer of the Year Awards taking place later this year, was involved in activities throughout the week and held pampering events and health checks with their pharmacists across Ireland.

At the coffee morning in Bray, everyone enjoyed manicures and sweet treats along with coffee and conversation.

‘As part of our link with Family Carers Ireland and the awards later this year, we were excited to get involved with Carers Week,’ said head pharmacist John O’Meara. ‘It’s time to reflect on the work of thousands of family members and thank them for their hard work and selfless commitment to caring for another person. Our coffee morning meant a few hours off and time for carers to unwind.’

Speaking at the launch of the 11th National Carers Week, Liam O’Sullivan of Care Alliance Ireland said: ‘We are delighted to celebrate the 11th annual National Carers Week in Ireland. We have increasing numbers of all age groups needing more care and families provide this care, day in day out, without question. Now is the time to commit more resourcing to this area, so that people with disabilities and their families can be at the centre of our community, not on the fringes.’

Nomination forms are available from CarePlus Pharmacy’s nationwide. For more see www.careplus.ie.
