TEMPTING CLASHES AHEAD IN THE I.F.C. CAMPAIGN
WITH the resignation of Johnny Magee dominating the headlines last weekend it will come as some relief when all the footballing takes place on the fields this weekend when the Renault Senior football Championship and the Darcy Sands Intermediate Football Championship take centre stage.
We have a fll preview on the six tantalising clashes in the Senior competition inside but there are some mouthwatering IFC clashes coming up with the meeting of Ballymanus and Dunlavin on Saturday evening in Aughrim being one of the tastiest games of the weekend.
Dunlavin’s defeat to Ballinacor last weekend leaves them desperately seeking a victory but standing in their way are the men of Ballymanus who squeezed past Kilmacanogue in Pearse’s Park last weekend after some late drama in a very enteraining game of football on a beautiful evening.
Paddy Molloy’s men will be keen to notch up another win but Dunlavin will be looking to heal the hurt so this game promises to be one that will go own to the wire.
In Ashford on Saturday evening the Kilmacanogue men will face Rathnew which will be an interesting tie given that Jonathan Daniels’ men are coming in on the back of the defeat to Ballymanus while Rathnew will be looking to hit the ground running.
The local derby of Hollywood and Donard-The Glen in Blessington on Saturday can only provide drama while Carnew Emmets and Ashford on Saturday in Pearse’s Park will be an intriguing clash with former St Pat’s man Brian Coen making his championship debut for Ashford while Carnew will look to put a disappointing weekend on the hurling fields behind them by claiming a decent scalp in the football championship.
