MEN’S SHED

All I have to tell you good people within our community would take two newspapers so I’ll just fill ye all in on the important bit’s as it were. Since I last reported we have had a few tragedy’s and some good happenings, the sad things being, losing our wee ‘Kithen’ the young ferule kitten who came to live among our beloved ‘Girls’ (hens) she has just vanished and searches hither and thither have resulted in nothing, so to say we are saddened by her loss would be an understatement.

Another great tragedy was the sudden death of ‘Big Ernie’ an exquisite cockerel from natural causes, and just when he had his ‘crowing’ just at the right pitch, we are also very sad at his passing, but as they say ‘Never a dark cloud will pass till a bright one show’s it’s head’, and that is exactly what happened, the lady who donated our hen’s Bridget came hurrying to our aid with replacements, thank you Bridget.

We’ve had our very successful first social outing to ‘Croker’ and Dáil Eireann just last Tuesday which was a fantastic day out, and then on the Thursday of the same week we played host to a very VIP group. Indeed, none other than a group from ‘The Ireland Funds’ visited our humble abode and spent a very happy time with us finding what this Men’s Shed business is all about, needless to say they were very well satisfied by our ‘Role model’ Newtown and Newcastle Men’s Shed.

All our allotments are now bearing great fruit and veggies to beat the band, and it will be a pity most will be harvested by the time we hold our ‘Community thank you’ day scheduled for Saturday, July 22, but we will try to keep ye all some, never mind aye.

It is a privilege to be a part of something where it is as appreciated as much as our Men’s Shed is by those within our community of Newtown, Newcastle, and surrounding districts, the goodwill and everything that entails is second to none and we are especially grateful to David of Murray’s Cabs, The Parkview hotel, the Egg lady, Synnott Butchers Druids well pub, and indeed in every household where we’re sure the will to support us is very strong we say Thank You always.
