DELIGHT AS LOST €25,000 SCRATCH CARD FOUND

-

THE joy of winning €25,000 soon turned to despair for one dad recently as the winning scratch card went walkabout.

Thankfully, his good luck had not yet abandoned him and, after a frantic two-day search, the valuable piece of card was found behind the fridge.

The All Cash Spectacular scratch card was bought in the Petrogras filling station in Rathnew and placed inside a Father’s Day card by the man’s son.

‘I was stunned to find I had in my hand a winning card worth €25,000,’ he said.

‘Over the course of Father’s Day I kept checking the card to see if I had been dreaming. But when I went to check that evening I could not find the scratch card anywhere!’

‘We tore the place apart for almost two days,’ said the winner’s son, who accompanied his dad to National Lottery HQ in Dublin last Wednesday, June 21, to claim his prize.

‘ Every room in the house was up- ended to find the ticket; we even searched through bins to ensure it wasn’t thrown out by mistake.’

The father-and-son team were beginning to lose hope when they made a last gasp effort to search the kitchen, pulling out the fixtures in desperation.

To their great relief, the elusive scratch card was found hiding down the back of the fridge.

‘If you think the feeling of winning 25 grand is good, imagine how bad the feeling of losing it is!’ said the twice-lucky dad.

‘It was absolutely unbearable. Thankfully, with my son’s help, we found it and all’s well that ends well.

‘I’ve barely taken my eyes off the scratch card ever since we found it.’

Will he buy his new-favourite son anything from his winnings?

‘I suppose he deserves a bag of chips for the drive home now!’ the winner joked.
