St Patrick’s pupils are inspired by the ocean
AS they finished senior infants and looked forward to a great first class, Ms McDonnell’s class at St Patrick’s created a mural in the school to explore ocean sustainability.
With Bray’s recent Blue Flag attainment and the summer months bringing with it many ocean-based activities, the class had been exploring the ocean and sustainability.
They created a mural based on the sea, and their own environmental responsibilities.
Parent, and art teacher at Pres, Clifton Rooney, helped the children create the piece of work.
‘ They most be among the youngest ocean activists in Bray,’ he said.
Clifton helped to facilitate the project collaboratively with their teacher Ms McDonnell.
They tried to nurture the attitudes of re-usability and recycling. In fact the mural boards are recycled table tops from the woodwork room in Pres.
As the children finish their junior cycle of primary school, and the boys move on to Cronan’s and other schools, they leave their mark at St Patrick’s to help other children learn about the environment, the ocean and sustainability.
