Stones thrown from N11 flyover onto motorway

-

MOTORISTS had stones thrown at their cars on the N11 on Friday night, by people standing on the bridge over the motorway.

The incidents occurred near the exit for Fassaroe on the N11. In one case, a heavy object was dropped onto the N11.

The bridge road itself, coming from Old Connaught, was also blocked by roadworks signs place there by the same group of people. A motorist who got out to move the signs back out of the way was reportedly confronted by the group.

A woman who was driving along the Old Connaught Road at the bridge close to 11 p.m. saw two engineering signs blocking the road.

She said that young lads were throwing missiles at her car from the ditch. With traffic building up behind her, she got out to move the sings. Her son was in the car and she told him to lock the doors.

The woman moved the signs as the young lads shouted at her before she drove away.

The stone throwing began at around 9 p.m. Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of the bridge on Friday night between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., or has dash-cam footage, can contact Bray Garda Station at (01) 6665300, or alternatively, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111.
