AVONMORE GAME CLUB SERVES UP A TASTY FUNDRAISER

-

AVONMORE Game Club held its ninth charity fundraising barbecue on Saturday with a sizeable crowd attending Kavanagh’s Vartry House for the event.

The annual Roundwood barbecue is always a great event with plenty of lovely food, bread and salads, live music and plenty of banter.

Donations from the proceeds are given to local organisations. Last year, Roundwood National School and the senior citizens group were the beneficiaries and it was decided to select the same two organisations for this year as well.

The fundraiser has become a must-attend event in the local calendar and has benefited numerous charities and community organisations from the area over the past nine years.

On the night, traditional musicians played in the beer garden while locals, young and old, and visitors sampled the game delights from the barbecue.

The ever-popular Roamin Cadillacs performed until late into the night, with some special guests also drawing an appreciative response from audience members.

The highlight of the evening was the serving of a hog roast on a spit, along with plenty of other mouth-watering treats from the barbecue.
