SWING IS BROKEN TWICE IN A WEEK
COMMITTEE WAITING FOR COUNCIL TO MEND BASKET SWING
THE basket swing at Little Tern Park in Kilcoole has been broken twice in the past week.
Members of the Kilcoole Area Play Space (KAPS) committee are awaiting confirmation from Wicklow County Council on when it will be repaired.
The swing was mended last Monday, and by Tuesday evening, June 27, it was broken again.
Residents of the area said that at various times they had seen too many children at once using the swing, teenagers on it, and on at least one occasion adults on the swing.
The KAPS committee have raised concerns with the council that the swing itself be checked. They would like confirmation that it is secure enough for general use.
The contractor was on site last week with KAPS expecting a response shortly.
KAPS said that Greystones Municipal District would be in charge of the park once it was completed and responsible for maintenance and upkeep.
As well as wanting the swing addressed, they are waiting for the installation of bins, and for an accessible swing to be installed.
