Festival of Running at Avondale this weekend

-

The famous Wicklow Hospice Festival of Running gets under way in the beautiful grounds at Avondale House tomorrow (Thursday, July 6) and continues until Sunday, July 9.

Runners are once again invited to take to the roads in aid of Wicklow Hospice for a memorable challenge with a variety of distances to choose from.

There is something for novice runners and marathon veterans alike with distances of five, 10, 15 or 20 miles open.

The route is part road and part trail which makes for an enjoyable and scenic run.

Participants can sign up for as many or as few days as they like.

Online registration is now closed but participants can still sign up through hospice directly.

It costs €70 for all four days; €55 for three days; €35 for two days and €20 for a single day. Any distance can be run on any day.

Post-race refreshments will be available on site.

The emphasis is on enjoyment and taking part so, whatever their level of fitness, people are invited to come along for a great cause filled with fun and camaraderie.

All proceeds from the festival go towards Wicklow Hospice and the organisers are grateful to all the sponsors, supporters and voluntary stewards who make this possible. Thanks are also extended to the management of Avondale House and Coillte, Rathdrum gardaí and Wicklow Civil Defence.
