Fitting tribute to Tom
VINTAGE car enthusiasts flocked to Ashford on Sunday for the annual Tom Kennedy Memorial Vintage Show.
The show organised by The Garden of Ireland Vintage Car Club was hosted in Eugene Stevens field known as ‘ the sand pit’ in Ashford.
Cars, trucks and bikes of all sizes and vintages took part and there was also live music and plenty of family activities. Additions to this year’s show also included farm machinery, artisan stalls and various side shows.
Matt Duffy presented his well-received dog show which he travels all over the country with, so plenty of people in attendance brought their pet pooch along with them. There were eight overall categories to choose from.
The show was originally run by the late Tom Kennedy, who at the time of the first show a number of years ago, was attending St Ann’s Oncology Ward in St Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin.
The event acted as a fundraiser for the ward which provided Tom with such wonderful care.
On his sad passing, The Garden of Ireland Vintage Car Club decided to continue organising the show in Tom’s memory.
Prior to the weekend, over €10,000 had been raised for St Ann’s Oncology Ward.
