Alpha/In-Between Book Club: There is no Book Club meeting in July or August. The three books for summer reading are: ‘Once we were Sisters’, a memoir by Shiela Koehler; ‘Circling the Sun’. a novel by Paula McLain, and ‘The Stars are Fire’, by Anita Shreve. Meetings will re-commence Tuesday, September 26.
The Thursday Group: We will not be meeting in July and August.
Date for your Diary: The Rathmichael Parish and School Fête will take place in the grounds of Rathmichael National School on Saturday, September 2, from midday to 4 p.m.

St Anne’s Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmation certificates or application forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificates and application forms can be processed.
Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confessions are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannesparishshankill. com and then clicking onto video link.
Evening Mass: Please note that there will be No Evening Masses for the months of July, August and September. Evening Mass will resume on Monday, October 2.
Summer Weekday Church Hours: St Anne’s Church will close at the following times over the summer months (July1st to October 1) Monday to Thursday at 4.45 p.m. and on Friday at 2.45 p.m.
St Patrick’s Chapel, Loughlinstown: The celebration of the Sunday 9 a.m. Mass has now ceased.

Baptism Times: Baptisms take place in St Anne’s Church at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month and at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. A month’s notice is required. Please contact the St Anne’s parish office located in St Anne’s Resource Centre to make your arrangements. Please note that when visiting the parish office to arrange a baptism, the child’s birth certificate should be brought as it necessary to photocopy it for the parish records but it will be returned immediately.
Pre-Baptism Meetings: PreBaptism Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month for parents presenting their children for baptism the following month.
Room Hire – St Anne’s Resource Centre: At present we have availability in the centre for room hire. If you are interested in running your class or course please contact Melissa Tobin at 01 2822777 for further information. Facilities include Free car park, tea or coffee, Use of whiteboard and projector, Flipchart Stands, three rooms available with capacity for 80 people, 25 people, or 15 people.
Shankill Conference of St Vincent de Paul: The July monthly church door collection will take place this Saturday and Sunday. Thank you for your support.
Hospitality: There will be no hospitality again till September. The volunteers are taking a well – earned break. We need more members for hospitality and anyone wishing to volunteer can call into the parish office.
Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament: The UAC hold Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 22nd of each month. This is a worldwide initiative by the Pallottine Family to pray for vocations to the Priesthood and the Religious Life. Peter’s Pence annual Collection: Thank you to all who contributed so generously to the recent Peter’s Pence Collection in St Anne’s Parish. The amount raised was €1,785. Your support is really appreciated.

July Film Night: Takes place on Saturday, July 29, at 8 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. The film being screened is Cole Porter’s ‘High Society’ starring Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra with Louis Armstrong with his band. Admission free – all welcome.
Mary’s Dowry Course: This course will take place immediately after morning Mass each Wednesday at 10.30 a.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. These short films give the viewer an insight into the lives of English Martyrs.
Ministry: We would like to encourage and appeal to parishioners to consider committing their time towards a Ministry in St Anne’s, beginning in September till June 2018. If interested contact the parish office to arrange Garda Vetting over the summer. Some examples are: Reader, Collector, Welcome Team, Hospitality Team, choir, Altar Society.
Volunteers Needed: It is the competition judging season, please help Shankill Tidy Towns to keep the village looking well. We need volunteers to water plants on a rota once a fortnight. Appeal For Adorers. Did you know that our Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel is open Monday to Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and also from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. At present, we are appealing for people to ‘watch one hour’ with the Lord. There will be a book in the Chapel for you to sign in. If there is no one present when you have to leave the Chapel, we ask that you close over the tabernacle doors.
Altar Society: The Altar Society comprises parishioners who prepare and arrange floral displays for the church each week, working either singly or in pairs. The use of fresh flowers enhances the church space especially the sanctuary, and these floral displays also help to reflect the changing Seasons of both the calendar year and the church’s year. If you are interested in joining the Altar Society please call into the parish office.
Men’s coffee morning: The men’s coffee morning takes place every Friday from 10.30 a.m. to
11.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Please join us if you are free.

FIRST SATURDAY BOOK SALE
The August First Saturday Book Sale will take place in Shankill Old Folks Centre. Lower Road, Shankill, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, so make a point of calling into the book sale on that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunity to pick up some excellent reading material for the summer. Donations of books, other than school/text books, accepted on the day. Please note that photographs and memorial cards found in books can be collected at the book sale.

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays. The library is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The library will be open this Friday and closed this Saturday. Dublin (Junction of Dublin Road and Stonebridge Road, Shankill) from Monday, August 14, to Friday, August 18, nightly at 8 p.m. – the Leo Swan Memorial Lecture will take place on Wednesday, August 16.

Shankill Action for a Green Earth is hosting an ‘Energy Clinic’ tomorrow (Thursday) from 7.30 p.m. in t St Anne’s Resource Centre for local householders and businesses. Information will be provided by the SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) about how to apply for energy efficiency grants. Please join us for expert advice and light refreshments. SHANKILL GAA CLUB
After a year of hard work our academy sponsored by O’Donnell’s Pharmacy is taking a break for the summer holidays and will be back in action on Saturday, August 19, at 10 a.m. in Shanganagh Castle.
The club Mini all-Irelands took place last Saturday week morning in Shanganagh Castle with saw great fun and much drama. Indeed it was amazing how many drawn matches there was in the competition. However, there were medals for everyone and also a treat of free ice cream from Teddy’s of Dun Laoghaire, who sent a van up to the castle. Everyone enjoy the summer holidays, stay safe and come back in August having grown a foot taller.
Special thanks to the coaches, parents and our young club players who make the Academy possible every week. Our summer Camp sponsored by O’Donnell’s Pharmacy is in full swing and is fully booked. Our golf classic which was held recently in Woodbrook Golf Club was a brilliant success again this year. Winners were – first place: Shankill Financial Services, second place: John Brady Group, and third place: AIB Private Banking.
