Skilled builder Johnh ad a great love of animals

-

THE recent death of John Lambert from Rathshanmore, Hacketstown, was met with sadness across his native County Wicklow and Carlow, where he made his home.

John (74) passed away on June 26 at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny after a brief illness.

John grew up in Ardnebay, Knockananna as part of a large family. A builder by trade he ran a successful company and worked in Dublin for a decade before moving back to his native village.

John was married to Mary and they had five children – Bernard, Joey, Kevin, Christina and Teresa – and 17 grandchildren.

John was well liked and respected in his community and passed on his expertise in the building trade to his three sons who followed in his footsteps.

He was a great card-player and enjoyed a good sing-song, ‘Raglan Road’ being his song of choice.

Those who knew John were aware of his love of animals and he was often seen driving around in his white van, accompanied by a terrier in the passenger seat.

John was the third brother of the Lambert family to pass away in 17 months.

Funeral Mass for John was celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Knockananna by John’s brother Fr Owen Lambert join by Fr Declan Foley and other celebrants.

He is sadly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, brothers, sisters and many relatives and friends.

May he rest in peace.
