Under-16s turn the tables in second blitz

-

THE Wicklow Juniors suffered at the hands of a Dublin squad with the Liberty Insurance Championship title firmly in their sights in their third round clash played in Baltinglass.

With Waterford and Offaly providing opposition for the next two games, Wicklow must focus on what is ahead.

The U-16 squad had a very successful outing in Blitz 2 of their Progress to Success Championship where they reversed the Blitz 1 result v. Mayo to take top seeding going into the knockout stages.

They will play the winners of Monaghan v. Louth in the semi-final in mid August with Mayo taking on Donegal in the second semi-final.

Glorious sunshine was the order of the day at recent Under-8 and 10 Blitzes played in Avondale and Eire Og Greystones.

The future stars of club and county enjoyed a great day’s action at both venues.

This week sees the inaugural Wicklow Camogie Rising Starz Camp in The Centre of Excellence Ballinakill - a three-day camogie Camp for 1st, 2nd and 3rd years girls.

The Under-14 Championship got under way this week with notable wins for Avondale and Carnew against Glenealy and Bray Emmets.

The County Under-17 Development Squad meets this week - players born in 2000 are eligible to join.

This squad will have a short season as they train on Thursdays in Ballinakill for their Leinster Blitz in early August and All-Ireland Blitz on August 19th.
