SYMPATHY

The sympathy of everyone in our community is extended to the Liddy family, Coolgreany Demesne on the death of our former revered GP Dr Gerard Liddy.

Dr Liddy retired in 2009, after serving our community as the local GP since he came to Coolgreany in 1972 to continue the practice of his late uncle Dr Patrick Liddy.

Dr Gerry practice extended out as far as Tinahely and Aughrim on the West side and down as far as Castletown and Tara Hill on the eastern seaboard. Dr Gerry was an excellent Doctor was always available and very generous with his time when he was most needed.

A regular mass goer with his wife Ann, and was always good for a chat afterwards. A regular visitor in the early morning to Shorts shop for his favourite paper the Irish Times and his usual packet of cigars, he liked nothing better than to take the short walk along with Ann to O’Rafferty’s lounge to join in the craic with the locals.

Gerry was buried in Ballyfad Cemetery on Sunday, July 23, after 2 p.m. Mass in St David’s Church Johnstown. Deepest Sympathy is extended to his wife Ann, son David, daughters Jennifer and Ann Louise, sons inlaw, daughter in-law and grandchildren.
