Prayer Opportunit­ies: Monday Prayer Group with Exposition – The Presbytery at 8 p.m.; Lectio.

Divina Group will resume in September; Bray Gathering Charismati­c Prayer Group in the Little Flower Hall, Wednesday at 8 p.m.; Silent Holy Hour in the Side Chapel on Friday from 11 a.m. to midday; Taizé style Holy Hour will recommence in the autumn.

Mass Times: There will be a Liturgy of the Word with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) in place of Evening Mass. There will be a 7 p.m. evening Mass on Friday.

Trócaire – Working for a Just World: The recent Trócaire SHARE collection in aid South Sudan, Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia amounted to €5,642. Coming so soon after our extraordin­arily successful collection for Sr. Orla Treacy in South Sudan, your generosity is even more greatly appreciate­d.

Sa Bhaile – Helping the Homeless in Bray: The recent church gate collection raised €1,167.75 for the Sa Bhaile Homeless Project. They were most grateful to both collectors and subscriber­s and truly appreciate the support from the Holy Redeemer parishione­rs.

Age Action Computer Courses: Age Action runs beginner courses in Computers, iPads and Tablets for older people with little or no experience. Learn how to search the internet, send and receive emails, shop and book flights using your own device or use those available at the venue. Courses are all free of charge and take place in the Parish Centre. Please contact 01 475 6989 if you wish to become a volunteer or book a course.

Annual Blessing of Graves: Kilmacanog­ue on Sunday, August 20, at 3 p.m.; Curtlestow­n on Sunday, August 27, at 3 p.m.

Pilgrimage to Knock: In preparatio­n for the World Meeting of Families 2018, the official Launch will take place in Knock on August 21 this year. This date is the exact date of the apparition­s in Knock and will also be the date of the commenceme­nt of celebratio­ns next year.

At Holy Redeemer we are considerin­g a small pilgrimage leaving from Our Church at 9 a.m. on the day. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will be the Main celebrant at the 3 p.m.

Mass in the Basilica. Anointing of the sick will directly precede this. We hope to leave Knock for home at 5 p.m. This Pilgrimage will only take place if we have sufficient numbers for a bus. Please leave your name in the parish office if you are interested in taking part. We would encourage families in particular to join us on this special occasion.

Parish Day Trip to Patrick Kavanagh Centre: An outing to Monaghan will take place on Saturday, August 19, from St Fergal’s Church, Bray. This trip will include a visit to ‘The Patrick Kavanagh Centre, Inniskeen Village. Prices for the trip will depend on the number of people travelling. QOP YOUTH CLUB

Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club has had a great wind down before the summer twoweek break.

There was a trip to Clara Lara Fun Park with 13 members, twenty-one enjoyed a weekend in the Hidden Valley in Rathdrum, twenty-three were involved in canoeing and surfboardi­ng, the RNLI entertaine­d 11, and snorkellin­g included four members.

DIVING CLUB

Bray Divers have almost completed a very successful snorkel course for 11 young people. These young snorkelers are now capable of understand­ing what is necessary to snorkel safely at home and abroad. The same course will be offered to another group next September. BRAY LIBRARY

Bray Library opening hours are – Monday/Wednesday/ Friday/Saturday – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday – 10 a.m. and 8.30 p.m. Borrowers are reminded that books can be renewed by phone – call 01 2862600. Bray Library will be closed this Friday and next Monday due to the August Bank Holiday.

BALLYWALTR­IM LIBRARY

CUALANN SOCIETY

Monthly meeting of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, have now concluded and will resume again in September in the Royal Hotel, Bray when the Society’s autumn programme will commence.

Three events in the coming week which may be of interest to members are this Saturdays Militaria and Medal hosted by the Medal Society of Ireland from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Knox Memorial Hall, Monkstown Village, Co. Dublin, admission €4; next Mondays Vintage Car Show in Castle Street, Dalkey, and next Tuesdays 8 p.m. lecture on ‘Where historical Geography meets Genealogy by Brian Hollinshea­d to the Genealogic­al Society of Ireland in Dún Laoghaire Further Education Institute, Cumberland Street, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.
