Loreto Lourdes Trip: The Loreto Bray students who held a church gate collection last Sunday week raised a phenomenal €1,656.93. Huge thanks to all who contribute­d.

Lourdes Collection: The church gate collection this Sunday will be a special collection to help bring a sick person to Lourdes. Please give generously.

RCIA: The RCIA, which stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of adults, is a process through which non-baptised men and women enter the Catholic Church. It is also for those baptised in a different faith tradition who wish to become Catholic, or baptised Catholic, but never confirmed. The RCIA process follows the ancient practice of the church and was restored by the Second Vatican Council as the normal way adults prepare for baptism and confirmati­on. For anyone interested in finding out more about RCIA, please contact the parish office and leave your name and phone number and Fr Enda will contact you.

Pilgrimage to Knock: In preparatio­n for the World Meeting of Families 2018, the official Launch will take place in Knock on August 21 this year. This date is the exact date of the apparition­s in Knock and will also be the date of the commenceme­nt of celebratio­ns next year.

At Holy Redeemer we are considerin­g a small pilgrimage leaving from Our Church at 9 a.m. on the day. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will be the Main celebrant at the 3 p.m. Mass in the Basilica. Anointing of the sick will directly precede this. We hope to leave Knock for home at 5 p.m. This Pilgrimage will only take place if we have sufficient numbers for a bus. Please leave your name in the parish office if you are interested in taking part. We would encourage families in particular to join us on this special occasion. The final date to apply is this Friday.

CUALANN SOCIETY

Monthly meeting of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, have now concluded and will resume again in September in the Royal Hotel, Bray when the Society’s autumn programme will commence.

Two events in the coming week which may be of interest to members are the Rathmichae­l Historical Society’s 43rd summer series of Evening Lectures will take place in Rathmichae­l School, Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill (Junction of Dublin Road and Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill) nightly at 8 p.m.

The other event is next Tuesday night’s 6.30 p.m. lecture in Dalkey Library, Castle Street, Dalkey, Co. Dublin, by Damien Burke, Archivist of the Irish Jesuit Archives on ‘The Life of Fr Willie Doyle, SJ’ Fr Doyle was born in Dalkey in 1873 and killed at the Third Battles of Ypres on August 13, 1917, while serving as a military chaplain. Admission free and all are welcome.

CHARITY RUN

On Sunday, August 20, the seventh North Wicklow Motorcycle Enthusiast­s’ motor cycle charity run will take place. Registrati­on is €10 for a riders and €20 for a rider and pavilion passenger.
