IRISH GERMAN SOCIETY MEETING

THE next meeting of the Irish- German Society of County Wicklow takes place on Monday, August 21, at 7.30 p.m. in Bray Town Hall.

The guest speaker will be the Irish Ambassador to Federal Republic of Germany H E Michael Collins.

Mr Collins has had a very distinguish career since he joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1974. He has been Ambassador Saudi Arabia which also included being accredited to Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

In August 1999, he became Ambassador to the Czech Republic and Ukraine, from July 2001 to July 2007 he was Second Secretary General at the Department of the Taoiseach with responsibility for International and European affairs and particularly the Northern Ireland Peace Process.

In July 2007, he was appointed Ambassador to the United States of America where he spent an usual six year term, in 2013 he took up his present post in Berlin.
