Martin goes on the road

-

THE 7th annual Martin Codyre cycling challenge took place last Sunday with a 90km route and 50km starting in Bray and taking in the sights of County Wicklow.

This year Martin himself was able to participate thanks to an electrical bike made by Outrider USA. Martin suffered paralysis following a fall in 2008 at the age of 33. Since then he has studied, worked and fund-raised on behalf of people with spinal injuries.

Thanks to the fundraising through the cycle over the years, Martin was able to commit to buying his bike via a Kickstarter campaign organised by Outrider.

It took two years for the company to develop the bike and earlier this year he got the first one in the world that would allow someone with his level of injury to truly control the bike.

Martin took on the entire 90km route with the other cyclists.
