This free, Heritage Week open day for families will examine the interactio­n of people with the natural landscape in Glendaloug­h over the last 1,000 years as they sought food and raw materials.

GEOLOGY WALK

This Heritage Week, enjoy a free guided walk along the seafront in Greystones and receive in introducti­on to geology. Participan­ts will learn about marine mapping, engineerin­g geology at the harbour and coastal erosion on North Beach. This event is suitable for children.

TOURS OF OLD BURIAL GROUND MEXICAN FAIR

Get your ponchos and sombreros ready for the Newcastle Parish Mexican-themed fair. There will be lots of stalls featuring toys, books, bric-a-brac, clothes, cakes, plants and lots more. There will also be lots of games and face-painting for the children. Fancy dress is optional and there will be lots of refreshmen­ts available.

COMMUNITY BARBECUE

After a really successful barbecue last year, organisers of this fun, family event are hoping to repeat the feat this year. Advance tickets are available by calling Christine on 086 8057431 or contacting any member of the committee. Tickets cost €10 per adult or €25 for families (up to four children under 12).
