Kilmacanogue took on Dunlavin in the Intermediate Championship Group Stage in Roundwood last Sunday night.

In a tight and nervy first half, Kilmac managed to take a 1-point lead in at the break, score 03-02 with the points coming from Kevin Redden, Niall Meldon and Arron Creavin. However, it started to go wrong after the break when Andrew Molloy was black carded and then Niall Meldon was involved in a skirmish with an opponent and both were sent to the line. Dunlavin notched up four points in that period before Simon Doyle saw red and then a Dunlavin goal left it 1-06 to 0-3. Arron Creavin got a late consolation point but Dunlavin ran out winners on 1-10 to 04 point scoreline.

It is not an excuse but the loss of all four of the O’Callaghan Brothers and four more of the panel away working has taken its toll on the squad this year. However, there is a league campaign to be won with Kilmac sitting top currently and fantastic numbers at this week’s Cúl Camp so the future is bright, It’s rally the troops and go again.
