The annual Patrick King Memorial Shield took place in Ryders Field in Kilmacanog­ue last Saturday at 6 p.m. and what a great night it turned out to be. The game this year was a rematch of the squads of the 2002 Carton Walsh Cup Final. Glencormac won that one 1-0 but St Fergal’s gained revenge with a 3-1 victory on Saturday to take the shield back to Bray after its four-year stay in Kilmacanog­ue.

Afterwards, it was down to Plucks for a great nights entertainm­ent and the monster raffle which was brilliantl­y supported, both in sponsorshi­p of Prizes and purchase of tickets with over €1,800 raised to present to the charity AWARE in the near future on behalf of the memory of both Patrick and Fiona King.

The 22nd to 24th prizes were kindly donated by Anthony McGrath of O’Briens Off Licence featuring two bottles of wine and were won by Glen Messitt, Lana King and Pat Philips. A One night stay for two was kindly donated by the Wilton Hotel on the Southern Cross which Craig Kelly paid €100. The cheque will be presented in the coming weeks to AWARE, thank you to everyone for your support.
