Prayer Opportunit­ies: Monday Prayer Group with Exposition – The Presbytery at 8 p.m.; Lectio Divina Group will resume in September; Bray Gathering Charismati­c Prayer Group in the Little Flower Hall, Wednesday at 8 p.m.; Silent Holy Hour in the Side Chapel on Friday from 11 a.m. to midday; Taizé style Holy Hour will recommence in the autumn.

Evening Mass: Please note that as our Sacristans will take a break this week, there will be no evening Masses or devotions today ( Wednesday), tomorrow (Thursday), or on Friday.

Mass Cards: Signed Mass Cards are looked after by the priests of the parish and are available ONLY in the parish office or in the Sacristy.

Lourdes Collection: The church gate collection last Sunday was a special collection to help bring a sick person to Lourdes. Thank you for your generosity.

Age Action Course: Age Action runs beginner courses in Computers, iPads and Tablets for older people with little or no experience. Learn how to Search the internet, send and receive Emails, shop and book flights using your own device or use those available at the venue. Courses are free of charge and take place in the Parish Centre. Please contact. Pease contact 01 475 6989 if you wish to become a volunteer or book a course.

RCIA: The RCIA, which stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of adults, is a process through which non-baptised men and women enter the Catholic Church. It is also for those baptised in a different faith tradition who wish to become Catholic, or baptised Catholic, but never confirmed.

The RCIA process follows the ancient practice of the church and was restored by the Second Vatican Council as the normal way adults prepare for baptism and confirmati­on. For anyone interested in finding out more about RCIA, please contact the parish office and leave your name and phone number and Fr Enda will contact you.

St Columcille’s Hospital, Memorial Service. A memorial service to remember those who died in St Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinst­own, Co. Dublin, from its early days as a workhouse in famine times or more recently as a caring hospital, will be held in the hospital cemetery this Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Used Stamp Collection: Please drop in any of your used stamps into the parish office. They are a great source of income for the missions. Thank you to all who have left their used stamps into the parish office to date.

Octave of Thanksgivi­ng: This began yesterday (Tuesday) and continues till next Tuesday (August 22). Octave prayers will be said at al Masses. Prayer petition box will be available near the altar. Prayer leaflets will be available.

Midsummer Dues: Thank you to all those who returned their mid-summer dues and to those who helped deliver them. Spare dues envelopes are available in the church porches for anyone who would like to take one.

Sa Bhaile Collection: Sa Bhaile, the Bray homeless charity will hold a collection after all Masses this Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds will help Sa Bhaile secure accommodat­ion for homeless people, including families, in the Bray area. Your generosity will be deeply appreciate­d.

QOP YOUTH CLUB

Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club members who enjoyed a short trip to Hook Head, County Wexford included Amy, Pauline, Kieffer, Mike, Oisin, and Albert. The day was spent snorkellin­g, jumping off piers into the sea, and searching for fossils. It is hoped to make this an annual event.

DIVING CLUB

Bray Divers Sub-Aqua Club organised a scuba dive in Greystones Harbour to observe the night time underwater creatures. This was the first club night time dive in the harbour since it was constructe­d. Many more dives will be organised and the various creatures will be listed to have a comprehens­ive catalogue. CUALANN SOCIETY

Monthly meetings of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, have now concluded and will resume again in September in the Royal Hotel, Bray when the Society’s autumn programme will commence.

Events this week which may be of interest to members are the Rathmichae­l Historical Society’s 43rd summer series of Evening Lectures which began last Monday and continues in Rathmichae­l School, Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill, Co. Dublin (Junction of Dublin Road and Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill) nightly at 8 p.m. till Friday. The Bray Cualann Historical Society commences its Heritage Week programme of talks and walks this Saturday with a talk by James Scannell at 11.30 a.m. in Bray Library, Eglinton Road, Bray, covering ‘August 19 to August 27, 1917, in Bray’, admission free – all welcome, and will be followed on Wednesday, August 23, by a ‘Killarney Road Walking Tour’ led by Brian White which departs from Bray Town Hall at 11 a.m. This walking tour will be repeated on Saturday, August 26, at 3 p.m. departing from the Town Hall. Please wear suitable foot gear and dress appropriat­ely for the weather conditions on the day for these walks. Admission to these walks is free and all are welcome.

On Thursday, August 24, James Scannell will give a short talk ‘August 19 to August 27, 1942’ at 11.30 a.m. in Ballywaltr­im Library, Boghall Road, Bray. Admission free – all welcome. This final events takes place in Kilrudery House, Bray, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, when Brian White will present his talk’ Trains, Planes, Automobile­s, and Family Stories from Kilruddery.’ Admission free but booking required via Kilruddery House website. BRIDGE

CHARITY RUN

This Sunday the seventh North Wicklow Motorcycle Enthusiast­s’ motor cycle charity run will take place. Registrati­on is €10 for a riders and €20 for a rider and pavilion passenger.
