HUGE GAME

Enniskerry play their last group game in the group stages on Thursday in Rathnew. The Black and Amber team will want to top the group for the Quarter Final stages. Hopefully a big crowd from the Village will be there to cheer on the team.

BLESSING OF GRAVES

With the blessing of the graves only a couple of weeks away help is needed to make a final effort to finish the Clean Up in Curtlestow­n Graveyard on the two Remaining Wednesday nights.

WALKERS

Enniskerry Walkers are starting a little earlier now (7 p.m.) a sure sign that the nights are coming earlier. Just meet at Windsor’s Spar in the Village on Tuesday on nights.

CYCLE FUNDRAISER

The ladies and Men’s GAA teams from Enniskerry are organising a day of Cycling to help Pieta on Saturday, August 26. Two options are available a 50k or a 100K. More info on GAA website and next week’s notes.

DANCING

Irish Dancing for young people is back in the Parish Hall on Saturdays. Times etc are shown on railings at parish in Enniskerry Village.

POWERSCOUR­T/KILBRIDE

Services of Worship in Powerscour­t for Sunday, August 20 – Trinity 10: 8.30 a.m. – Holy Communion One (Said); 11.30 a.m. – Holy Communion Two; 1 p.m. – Parish Lunch in the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House Hotel.

Daily Prayer and Open Church, midday and 5 p.m. each day: Powerscour­t Church has re-opened for daily prayer. This year there will be two times of prayer, midday and 5 p.m. with the church being open between those times for quiet space and personal prayer.

Car boot sales in aid of Powerscour­t Parish Funds: These take on the last Saturday of the month in Powerscour­t Church – Paddock, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The August one takes place On Saturday, August 26, For further details, contact Robert Allison at 086 3835151.

The Rosary: The Rosary is recited each morning (before Mass and Prayer Services) at 10 a.m.

Baptisms: Baptisms are now held on the second Saturday of the month in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, for parishione­rs only. Please arrange with parish office. Parishione­rs are asked to please give two weeks notice if you wish to book a baptism.

St Columcille’s Hospital, Memorial Service. A memorial service to remember those who died in St Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinst­own, Co. Dublin, from its early days as a workhouse in famine times or more recently as a caring hospital, will be held in the hospital cemetery this Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Annual Blessing of Graves: Kilmacanog­ue this Sunday at 3 p.m.; Curtlestow­n on Sunday, August 27, at 3 p.m.

Used Postage Stamps Needed: Barnardos Children’s Charity is looking for used stamps. The money raised through the sale of these stamps will go directly towards their work with vulnerable children here in Ireland. If you would like to leave your used stamps in an envelope in the basket at the back of the church we will forward them to Barnardos at regular intervals.

Monthly Rosary Group: Meets on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Prayer room in St Mary’s Church.

Legion of Mary – Kilmacanog­ue Presidium: Meet at 11.30 a.m. every Tuesday in the Sacristy of St Mochonog’s. New members are most welcome. Group recite the Rosary on the first Saturday of each month at midday at the Grotto in the church grounds. Click on the link legionofma­ry.ie to view website.

The Enniskerry History Society is on summer Recess till meetings resume in the autumn. Events this week which may be of interest to members are the Rathmichae­l Historical Society’s 43rd summer series of Evening Lectures which began last Monday and continues in Rathmichae­l School, Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill, Co. Dublin (Junction of Dublin Road and Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill) nightly at 8 p.m. till Friday.

GOLF CLASSIC

The friends of Ben Melia in conjunctio­n with Enniskerry YC AFC are holding a golf classic in Powerscour­t Golf Club on Sunday, September 3, The format will be a team of four (any combinatio­n). FIELD DAY

The Enniskerry field day takes place on Sunday, September 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join up to 10,000 others for a wonderful day of family fun. Fairground, pony rides, pet farm, games, traditiona­l sports, dog show, competitio­ns, art and crafts, music and dancing and much more. Tickets at venue, kids free, Just €5. Preceded by Event in the Tent on Friday, September 8, from 8 p.m. to 1.30 a.m. A fantastic night of live music, dancing, food, drink and merriment.
