Mark: It’s horrifying – people who bother no one were targets
ANOTHER Bray man, Mark Murray, has lived in
Barcelona for the past five years. He told this newspaper that the mood in the city can be compared to that after the Manchester attack.
‘ Two places were hit last week – both tourist destinations,’ said Mark, pictured right. ‘ The famous
Las Ramblas, which has a lot in common with
Grafton Street, Dublin, with mimes and the usual tourist shops and markets. Cambrils is a beach town. So again, people targeted were happy on holidays or locals working. It’s horrifying to think what religion has come to in some parts of the world. Innocent people in the wrong place at the wrong time. But nowadays where is the right place?’
Mark said that it is important to mention the emergency services. ‘How quick they were and in return saving lives. And especially the Mossos – an elite division of the police who acted so professionally and so quickly.’
Mark said that people have been nervous since the atrocities. ‘Catalán people are so nice and generous and peaceful,’ he said. ‘ The main question here is why these people who don’t bother anyone were made targets.’
