Car club offers a feast of classic and vintage

-

TORRENTIAL rain did little to dampen the spirits of the East Coast Classic and Vintage Club on Sunday as the members hosted their popular annual car show.

The wonderful surroundings of Arklow Rugby Club served as this year’s venue, a first for both clubs and the partnership proved to be a great success.

‘We were very happy with the turnout and the club was a great venue. There was plenty of room and everyone had a great time,’ said club chairperson Paul Clarke.

Visitors took a break from lifting bonnets and chatting to vehicle owners to enjoy a barbecue and ice cream.

There was also plenty of entertainent for children including a bouncy castle and live music.

Approximately 90 vehicles registered for the show from exhibitors from across County Wicklow and neighbouring counties as well as other local vintage and classic car clubs.

‘We had a super selection of cars - both classic and vintage dating from pre 1960s up to 1980. We also had an inconic car dating into the early 90s which was an ex-UK police vehicle. This was exhibited by a man from Wexford,’ Paul said.

Spectators, although obliged to bring their finest raincoats and umbrellas, came from far and wide for the day and the East Coast Classic and Vintage Club was delighted with the turnout.

The event was a club fundraiser and monies gathered on the day will go towards running costs.

The organisers extended thanks to everyone who came along and showed support.
