Bray in hot water over suspended U-19 player

-

BRAY Wanderers have been called in front of the Disciplinary Control Unit today (Wednesday, 23) over the alleged fielding of an U-19’s player whilst suspended.

Striker Shane Heffernan is the player in question. He lined out for the Seagulls on August 12 as Bray romped to a 4-0 success over Cork City despite the club being aware of his suspension.

They allege that they forwarded the correspondence onto manager Marc Kenny but despite this, the 19-year old still featured for the full 90 minutes against the Leesiders.

It was only Bray’s third league victory of the season and a performance that the club dubbed the ‘best performance of the season by the lads’.

Today’s meeting will most likely result in a fine for the club plus the removal of the three points earned against Cork City.

The U-19’s currently sit one point off the bottom of the U-19 Southern Elite Division table. Only Wexford F.C. stand between the young Seagulls and the foot of the table and Wanderers host them on Sunday in their final home fixture of the season before taking on Galway on Sunday, September 17 in their final outing. Current assistant manager Jason McGuinness is expected to step in for both matches.
