Blessing of the graves
The annual blessing of the graves took place last Sunday (20th) in Kilmacanogue. Despite the rain that fell, large crowds turned up as always to pay their respects to loved ones. Paddy O’Brien and his team of volunteers had worked tirelessly to get the graveyards looking so well and while it might seem thankless work, it is very much appreciated.
And what about the ‘Queen of the Glencap Road’ herself, Joby Stephens, who performed the service along with our local choir who sang beautifully as always. Let us also spare a thought for poor Frank Connolly, that wonderful volunteer we have in this village going around with the holy water for the graves and it bucketing out of the sky on him and Brian Harvey, who assisted the priest. Well done to all concerned.
